SimpleTire’s view on Mastercraft Courser MSR tires

A studdable winter tire like the Mastercraft Courser MSR offers a lot of flexibility to users since not all winter conditions will require studs. Despite being a winter tire, it is equally capable of performing in mud as well. Patented technology like the Snow-Groove design makes the tire stand out in terms of traction through biting edges and retention of snow in the tire’s outer grooves, leading to a high Mastercraft Courser MSR rating. High tread depth is responsible for enhanced levels of control and grip, as is the tread compound. With this being a symmetrical tire, you can expect it to be comfortable.

Vehicles the Mastercraft Courser MSR is a good replacement tire for

These are my favorite winter tires. Well mannered especially considering how open the tread is. Work equally well in packed snow, but shine is the wetter snows that the Blizzaks don't seem to do well in. I think they no longer make this pattern which is a shame. The tread is not directional and allows tires to be rotated (key for longevity). Wish they would bring it back.

Bought a set of 5 for my chevy suburban in 2017. I like to rotate the 5 and have a spare with equal wear, imo it prolongs the life of the set and the spare matches wear. I live in Alaska so I have a dedicated summer set and a winter set, the winter set usually goes on in October and comes off in April and are stored in a shed (on their rims!) during the off season. When I bought theses, for me, it was a long term investment. I've never gotten less than 10 years out of a set of tires and given these seemed ubiquitous in town and generally well liked I thought they would work out well. As far as handling, they are mediocre at best on snow and ice which we have about 6 months of up here, but the tires have seemed to be hard wearing so it's all a trade off. Since purchasing I've had them back to a shop every year (currently April of 2023) to have small leaks in the tread repaired from small stones working their way through the tread.. this has been an extremely annoying feature of this tire. This spring I found probably the 7th or 8th leak on this set of tires, put my spare on and trundled on down to the shop. A few hours later they come out and give me the bad news, the inner sidewall is cracked and they cannot repair or reinstall the tire. This set of five tires had fewer than 40,000 miles on them by my estimate and had really no excuse for a major construction failure, they still have over a 1/4 of tread measured at the middle two tread grooves... I'm thrilled that I have 4 left so I can finish out the spring season but I am also worried that one or more of my remaining tires may also have major failure issues lurking unseen.

My wife and I, are so pleased to find tires for our, 2002 Toyota Tacoma, that give the performance and comfort like a passenger vehicle. The tire also reduced turning radius without reducing the vehicle turnover safety it being a high profile truck. This tire has and continues to out preform any tire we have previously had on this vehicle. WE will be looking for the same quality with our next simple purchase from, Simple Tire...;p

Best winter tire I've had on my F150. Considering the void space, they are very quiet and give an excellent ride. They like to be rotated every 4K or so. I'll be buying another set once these are worn out. 20k on them and counting

Have mounted as my dedicated snow tires. Work very well in wet slush through powder. Very quiet considering how open void the tread it. I rotate these every 5k miles, wearing nice and even. I have 25k on them, have at least one more season in them. Wet traction has dropped a bit as tire wear past 1/2 depth. Not awful, just less than when newer I just hope mastercraft keeps making this design!
